About Dr. Spicer

Training and Experience

Having completed training at Columbia University and Northwestern University, Dr. Spicer has extensive clinical experience in adult psychiatry, psychotherapy and addiction medicine.  He is currently the Medical Director of an innovative addiction program at The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Community Center.  He is an expert consultant for organizations throughout the NYC area in coordination with the Columbia University HIV Mental Health Project.  He is a community advocate and an active member of the American Psychiatric Association (APA). Dr. Spicer was also recently guest editor for The Journal of Gay and Lesbian Mental Health and is involved in scholarly and academic activities in his areas of expertise. He is Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons.
